I became interested in helping children the summer of 1969. Between my junior and senior year in high school I spent a summer volunteering at Nebraska State Home for the Mentally Retarded, working under the direction of a Physical Therapist with 2 children. I realized what kind of an impact I could have as I played with these children. After that summer I set my sights on becoming a Physical Therapist. I have spent most of my 40+ year career, as a Physical Therapist, working with children and their parents. In the early 1990s I went to a PT Continuing Education course that changed the direction of my PT practice as well as changing how I see the children and parents I work with. It was my first experience with the Feldenkrais Method. Part of the course was the instructor, Larry Goldfarb, working with a child with CP. Over the course of the 3 days he made more progress with the little boy than I knew I could have made working with him over 3 years!!! I have spent the last 20 years developing my skills to enable children to progress in all areas of development. I work using the Feldenkrais Method as children play. In addition to using the Feldenkrais Method, I have integrated the work of Anat Baniel’s ABM and Chava Selhav’s ChildSpace into my practice. I provide the neuro-sensory input necessary to promote improved organization of the brain. The brain takes this information and creates new functional patterns. Using these methods consistently enables me to facilitate children’s ability to reach milestones, gain independence, and lead full lives bringing me joy and giving parents hope and peace.
